Back to basics laundry powder makes a difference
When you're suffering from sore irritated skin, you're miserable, & what you really need is some relief. Our pared-back laundry powder formulation is designed to cut out the irritants that can lurk on clothes and sheets after washing that then transfer to our skin all day long. We have taken a leaf from Grannies book and gone old school, sticking to ingredients that are trusted and recognisable and will give your skin some breathing space to heal.
It's well known that modern wash detergents are full of nasties you'd rather avoid when you have eczema or dermatitis. They are also full of fillers bulking out the wash but not helping with the cleaning.
Figgy & Co. laundry powder isn't like typical laundry detergents. We start with your skin in mind! Made from recognisable ingredients (like pure soap) to properly clean clothes, using no damaging detergents, optical brighteners or enzymes. The simple formula won't leave any residue or fake fragrance on the fabric because we think your skin deserves to hang out in clothes, sleep on sheets, and be dried with towels that won't put any irritants on it. And we also think our waterways deserve to be clean and fresh too.
We know that smelling good is important!
Our subtle scents are from a blend of skin-friendly whole plant essential oils. This is a great way to still enjoy a delicious smelling washing routine without the fake fragrance headache.

How to use Figgy laundry powder at home
This powder is concentrated, so you don’t need much. It’s ideal for machine and hand washing and can also be used for bucket soaking items that need a bit more wash time – like bibs and reusable period pads and undies.
Suitable for most fabrics including cotton, merino, bamboo, rayon, linen, denim, synthetics and blends. Not suitable for knitted woollens.
For top or front loading machines: put 1 tablespoon per 6kg load of washing and adjust for smaller, large or super soiled loads. Reduce the dose for HE machines. It performs well in all temperatures and is optimal in 30deg + water with a longer wash cycle. It’s also kind on septic tank/grey water systems and is safe for both delicates and machine washable woollens.
bucket soaking: Use 1-2 tablespoons with warm to hot water depending the fabric you are soaking. Soak for a few hours or overnight before washing.
Tip: For everyday washing with one or two stains, pre-treat just the stain, rather than upping the dose of your laundry powder. We recommend Figgy Bar Soap for this.

Yes, machine washable merino washes up really well with this laundry powder.
Yes, best results are in water 30 deg or warmer. A cold wash is typically 30 deg water, this gives the powder time to dissolve and get the cleaning done. During colder months, if you are using water directly from the cold tap you water may be much colder than 30 deg, pre-dissolve the powder or add some hot water to you wash during these times.
Yes, stubborn stains are removed better with targeted cleaning (for example oil, make up and blood). One of the best ways to reduce irritants on clothing overall is to use only the chemicals needed to do the job. Pre-treating directly onto stains rather than increasing the laundry wash for all the clothes is the best way to achieve this. Our Figgy’s bar soap is made for pre-treating stains, is pure soap and works brilliantly!
